Re: Another 4.8 Fuel consumption thread

Yup, his calculations are shitty. I have managed 7km/l before - long flat Karoo roads and 90 - 100km/h, no roofrack. but it is painful to drive that speed when you have 600km to travel. I can never imagine getting 10km/l in a 4.8. Just will not happen.

Re: Aluminum drawer system

make your own drawer system, if you have a decent technical mind to do rough technical drawings, you can send it to Ecolaser, TW profile etc and they will cut and bend for you. Get your sliders at furnlock and you have a drawer system. All in all a system built by yourself won't cost more than R5k a...

Re: Who has a Pickup with the Flat tray ala Aus style?

Jaco Loubser (Bossie L) has a '82 Safari which he converted to a platbak and looks good. Below pic is from his Instagram page and I totally didn't ask for permission to post it :)

Re: Engine oil over filled

I dont think you need to worry about 600ml over fill, it will do no harm  Interesting to know. I would have thought over half a litre would be pushing the limits a bit there. I had exactly the same issue last time I did the oil change on my 4.8, but mine was just because I was careless, to...

Re: Re-Call Airbags

Airbag has been replaced. No paperwork or anything to prove so however, so going on trust on this one. Forgot to ask to see the old airbag, had a few other things to discuss with them.

Re: SERVICE ITEMS

NEW UPDATE - Got correct codes from NGK on the various plugs. Note, they say any plugs with a '5' in the code will run too hot for the 4.8 engines, so look below at correct codes when getting plugs. The LFR6AIX-11 is recommended by NGK. For 4.8 GLX TB48 engines, (not sure how much GL model differs):...

Re: Re-Call Airbags

Thanks guys, will be calling them now and will post their response

Edit: just spoke to a lovely lady @ Nissan SA and passenger side airbag must be changed, Thanks for the suggestion Paul, seems my local Nissan dealer doesn't know what they're doing. Booked in 10 June and will update again.

Re: Re-Call Airbags

I checked mine a few months ago and it said I was in the clear. Checked again today and now it tells me that the patrol is one of the affected models  2005 4.8 GRX I will call the nissan dealer in polokwane and see what they say.. Hi Craig Let me know the outcome - same model as mine and the...
