Y61 4.8 ECU Needed
Howzit guys,
The issue with the throttle body exchange was finally found. The mechanic in Mossel Bay did indeed blow the ECU when he "tested" it. So seems the TB is working but now I need an ECU.
Does anyone know or have one lying around?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
After half a tank idling and a lot of downloads I'm certain the Thinkdiag isn't doing the job. When trying to reset the throttle body it does nothing other than displaying current status of other things. When trying to learn the air flow it just says connecting for a long time. Had it idling for mor...

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
Hi guys,
Received the diag tool earlier. Downloaded everything and run diagnostics. The same error comes up but there are so many options and tests that its gonna take me some time to figure out what to do. I dont see any option to correct things though, like sync or calibrating something.

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
Thanks for the replies guys. I did manage to order the Thinkdiag from takealot on the 2nd, delivery on the 13th so waiting impatiently. Ordered the relays too. When it arrives I'll scratch around with it and post an update here.

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
After sending that message I checked on takealot and saw a few thats very cheap. There's even a Konnwei for R300, I'm guessing it's no good if the Thinkdiag is R3k.

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
Im no expert here, but I did learn a couple of things about the TB48 throttle body and transmission when we installed the Merc OM613 in the TB48. So the transmission and the throttle body works together and the ECU needs to communicate with both and everything needs to be within tolerance. We had o...

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
Hi Zak I've had similar issues with limp mode pointing at the throttle body as the cause. After many months of looking for the problem and changing the throttle body, it turned out that the problem was not with the throttle body but with the ECU. I remember Pearly here on the forum had a similar is...

Re: Limp mode after replacing throttle body
Hi Jonathan, Wow and thank you so much. At least I have a point to start looking. I really hope it's not the EECU but if it is, then the mechanic blew it. He explained what he did and sounded like he manually pushed the butterfly open when the car was on, which I heard will blow the ECU. Anyway, let...
