I'd replace the rad cap first off with the correct temp cap, and definitively concider that it could be that the radiator is blocked up with the rusty bits and efficiency is down to nothing. Not the best thing on a Patrol. I know the TD42 diesels are a little more water temp sensitive, but it will take a hell of a lot longer to get up to operating temp.

Not sure what the part number is for the petrol Patrol. Maybe someone on here can help with that info

Nope, looks good. The old one is a non Nissan thermostat I have completely removed mine. Will this cause any major problems? If so where is best (cheapest) place to get a new one? Peter, yes just forgot to mention its only relevant to bypass thermostats and only see now he has a 4.5 :thumbup:

Michael, this is a 4.5.

That engine doesn't have a bypass thermostat.

But your comment is definitely valid for the TB42 and TD42 engines!
