Re: 4.2 Turbo or not ???
As far as I know, and I'm pretty damn sure about this, but the station wagon NEVER came out to SA in a 4.2 with Nissan factory turbo only a N/A TD42 ( TD42 ). Only the Pick Up came out with a factory fitted turbo ( TD42Ti). They stopped producing/supplying South Africa the TD42 stationwagon end of 1...

Re: 4.2 Turbo or not ???
Def not a factory setup The thin pipe on the thermostat housing is leading to the turbo for cooling. This means its not a Nissan turbo to start with as they are not water cooled. Intercooler is also not a TD42 cooler like on the pickups. Can be a nice buy if all is well on it. As Cedric said, take a...

Re: 4.2 Turbo or not ???
Same intercooler that I have, and my car also (originally) had a water-cooled turbo.
My guess is that you're looking at an Alpine turbo kit...

Re: 4.2 Turbo or not ???
Dustin, Maybe you can get hold of Frans ( tour de Frans on the forum), He is the TD42 guru in the Cape in my opinion, and he has worked on my Patrol. maybe you can make an arrangement with him to have a look at the Patrol. As for the top mount IC, I wouldn't stress too much about spending unnecessar...

Re: Turbo charging a TD42 engine
Tinus, you talk about an "Aneroid" fitted to the diesel pump. What is that exactly ? Here is a link to give you an explenation of exactly what the aneroid/boost compensator does. But in short it mechanically gives more fuel to match the more air that is being forced into the engine via the turbo ht...

Re: Turbo charging a TD42 engine
You'll also be fine without the boost compensator (an "aneroid" really sounds like something you should be taking pills for!)... The problem when tuning the engine without an android is that the diesel pump won't increase it's delivery according to the boost level (which is what you want), so you ha...

Re: 4.2 TD GU Y61
Meh. That is unfortunate. Not to worry - I'm sure one will pop up somewhere. If I see anything, I'll let you know.Dustin wrote:Thanks Ian, but Tinus' mate Gustav is driving it back home as we speak.
To say I'm desperate for a 4.2 diesel GU Patrol is a major understatement

Re: Turbo charging a TD42 engine
Dustin, I would write down all I know on the black top vs silver top, but it would take ages..... :rolling: :rolling: Have a look at this here.... pretty much covers it. But in a nutshell, it seems the GU TD42 motors we got were a bit of a mix of bits and pieces of both. whereas the GQ or Y60 model ...
