Fire Extinguisher?

Post by Clem »

Hi guys,

Has anyone found a smart place to put a fire extinguisher inside a GU Patrol?

Best,
Clem

Hi Clem

Simple - I bought one small enough for my cubbyhole - fits nice and snug, but not ideal because bigger is better, in this case. Mate has it mounted on floor in front of passengers seat.

The Fire Striker is small enough to mount next to the driver's seat, between the seat and the door, but has similar capacity to a 2kg normal extinguisher.

It is expensive though (R520), but it is also maintenance-free.

Probably the ideal is a fire-striker backed up by a standard extinguisher.

Thank you guys. I think I am going to go for the dual option (something smaller close to the front of the vehicle and then something bigger elsewhere) and then also fit one in the trailer in the kitchen area. Fire extinguishers are the type of thing you really need to hand very quickly and when you need it, the bigger the better (I have two or three in my garage, one of which is a 9 kg and the same in our kitchen and the servants quarters also has its own fire extinguisher).

Got two small ones in the front door panels, then one big one in the back. But will be replacing it with some off the small fire strikers you can fit them easy any place that is close and handy.

I've ordered two of the big Fire Strykers - one for the driver's seat area and the other for the trailer kitchen area. Load bay of car will get a full size as well. Should be adequate.
