How strong is your rear bumper?

Post by JohnBoyZA »

So, just returned from Kaokoland. 6000km, no incident.

Drive to the car wash for a valet. On route, while waiting my turn to turn right off the R27, some fellow slams into me without even applying brakes. He has no insurance.

His Etude couldn't be driven.

My damage? 10/10 to the chaps at Burnco.

Of course the OME lift made certain I didn't make contact with his bumper ;-)

John, glad the Patrol is OK.

That is one way of stopping a Mazda Etude

John,

Well come back - can imagine how p-off you had to be - even though you had no damage!!! Just did a 6000km trip with no incidents and then back home some asshole drives into your car - well shame if he has no insurance he has just learned a very expensive lesson - look where you going - and make sure you stay clear of a Patrol's rear side fitted with a Burnco bumper!!!

That is exactly why I like a Burnco bumper - might be a bit heavier than other well known names and makes - but sure as hell can take a beating!!! :woo: Well done Hein - excellent advertising material for you!!

 Have you measured one?? I gladly invite you to do so (you'll be mighty surprise).

Not wanting to go into a long, lenghty discussion here, but ALL (aftermarket) steel bumpers will obviously weigh slightly more than the std. plastic trim.

The old argument of "what do YOU weigh", or rather what extra's do you truck carry (eg. packing systems, watertanks, xtra fuel tanks, winch, rear wheel carrier, etc.) comes into the argument!?

Point is, a 5kg's here or a 10kg's there ain't gonna make any difference on a 2.5ton+ car!

Hey Jacques, I know I'm overweight, put no need to inform the forum

Am taking the bumper to Hein next week just to double check all is OK. Those HIDs are awesome though - will start separate thread soon!
