Re: My GU 4.2 Turbo Diesel
So finally I started building a rear bumper for my wagon......
Takes longer than I thaught, but Im sure its going to be well worth it in the end.
One question, the spare wheel sits very low from factory and I have seen many Patrols with after marker bumpers and the wheel sits higher than the bumper.
Do you modify the wheel carrier or what?

Re: My GU 4.2 Turbo Diesel
Michael, you've turned black by the looks of the photos!Michael wrote:So finally I started building a rear bumper for my wagon......
Some of the aftermarket bumpers have a nice, rounded cutout into the top of bumper for the tire to fit into. Mine does not
So... I modified my spare wheel carrier so that the rear tire sits about 5 cm higher (to clear the steel bumper) and 2.5 cm further back (to prevent the fat rubber from rubbing against the rear door).

Thanks for the tip Christo, I will also mod mine.
Ha ha yes, that is my trusty friend Alex
He has been working for me for many years and is a welder by trade....... and my welding scills are quite poor.
Hopefully today I will make some progress and maybe finish the job
