Ok Gents

I thought I would post some pics of my Patrol as I have not yet done a before and after on the forum. I mostly posted photos of the engine I was rebuilding, and think its now time to tell the whole story

My road with my Patrol started on the 29th of November 2013 when I bought it on a salvage auction as a vehicle to rebuild. Not everyone knows this, but as a hobby I rebuild cars during weekends and sell afterwards and I had the same in mind for this Patrol. Unfortunately they did not clear the vehicle as I bought it that day for R35,000

On the 31st of January I was back at the same auction waiting at my Patrol...... I was committed to buy it for whatever it goes for. That day I finally bought it for R47,310 all inclusive..... SOLD and CONFIRMED!!

I was over the moon and could not believe it!

Now I bought the Patrol as a non runner and new that there was a lot of work waiting to be done, the engine was stripped and I had no idea what was there and what wasn't. I really knew very little about my buy but I was very chuffed and very eager to start on it.

Here is the first photo I took of it when it was standing in front of my garage. I just blurred out the number plate as it was a personalized plate and don't want the previous owner to phone me pleading for me to sell him back his beloved Patrol.

Ok so please bare with me as I am going to tell the story over a couple of days

Obviously I started with the engine as this is the heart of the Patrol and was in bad shape...... very bad.
I was considering only replacing the head at first, but upon closer inspection I saw that an engine rebuild was the right direction.

Here is how sad the engine bay looked when I opened the bonnet..... ISH!!

Next step was to remove the engine and start the rebuilding process, It was not an easy task as this rebuild I did finger alone.

Here are some pics of the engine removed, It was really in poor condition and the engine went through serious overheating.

I'm not going to go into detail of the engine part, but the whole story can be read in the following thread

Ok so while the engine was out I started to do some bodywork as there were some bad sections on the fenders and the clearcoat started to come off in some areas.

I fixed the bonnet and fenders and gave them a new coat of paint

The rims were also the standard Nissan silver which wasn't going to match the new look I had in mind for my Patrol so I painted them matt black

So while I was busy with the bonnet, fenders and rims I thought..... what the heck, lets paint the bumper and fender flares as well

MATT BLACK!!

I also gave the suspension a new coat of paint

They looked like they were begging for paint and it was very easy while the engine was out to get into all the hard to reach places
